Ten days left here at my old job, including today. After lunch I'll call it nine!
The only nice thing about being back from my paternity leave is that I'm writing again. Taking the old commuter rail in this morning allowed me to add a full thousand words to the novel, the first long uninterrupted block of writing I've had in over three weeks. It felt good to write, but even better to realize that getting away from it for a bit didn't take any wind out of my creative sails whatsoever. Picking up where I'd left off was completely natural - the words started tumbling out again, just like that.
Went fishing yesterday again with my brother-in-law, this time in Gloucester. Stage Fort Park is one of those places where you really don't need to catch anything to have a good day fishing. The view of the harbor from the rocky promontory that makes up the park is magnificent, and despite all of the passing boat traffic all you can hear and smell is the sea. What a way to while away the end of a long weekend. Three weeks long, that is!
