Although this new schedule is kicking one hundred percent of my ass, Fridays aren't so bad. I split my day between Collection Development and the Circulation Desk, with a three-hour break in between the two jobs, during which time I hop the bus down to Boston have a nice and relaxing lunch with my wife. As we used to have lunch together all the time when we both worked in the Fenway area, it's nice to get that back, even if it's only for one day out of the week. It's a little oasis for us, an escape from the stresses and obligations of life, and I look forward to our Friday lunches now as much as I do my Thursday afternoons with my daughter down by the sea, at Chandler Hovey Park in Marblehead. Family time is a precious commodity for me these days; and although I hope that it won't always be so scarce, I will treasure it the same way no matter how much or little of it that I have.
