Got jellybabies? The immortal Dr. Who is slated to return to BBC One in 2005 after a fourteen-year hiatus, the Beeb reported today. While details about the immensely popular sci-fi series' return are still tantalizingly few, I for one can't wait. I was a huge Dr. Who fan back in high school, eschewing all sorts of normal teenager behavior to catch the latest episode every Saturday night, buying the cheesy paperback novelizations by the dozen, and even making a model TARDIS (the Doctor's time machine, which always appeared as a London police box due to a glitch in its "chameleon circuit") out of cardboard in a moment of uncontrollable fanboyishness; needless to say, I was crushed when I heard that the series had been shelved indefinitely. Dr. Who still looms large in my creative imagination, even after all these years, so believe you me, I'll be looking forward to watching some new adventures through time and space on my friendly neighborhood public television station.
