A coworker of mine here at the Modern Greek Section is a native speaker of Greek. I've been encouraging her to speak to me in Greek instead of English as much as possible, since I feel like I've hit a comfortable plateau with my Modern Greek, and won't go anywhere with the language unless I'm goaded by necessity. My wife is also fluent in Greek, but it's hard for us to switch from English, especially when our time together is limited as it is (she is, however, speaking Greek to the baby, which is wonderful). Again, work is captive time, so why not make the best of it? I already work day-in, day-out reading Modern Greek; all I need is a little push to get me using the language beyond the hellos and the goodbyes and the various food words.
