55k.

At last, some forward progress! Getting away from the story for a little bit can be a good thing. Sometimes the writing flows, but other times you find yourself trapped in an eddy, writing a scene round and round with no idea how to make the transition back out to the main stream of the plot. I've found that the best solution to this is an abrupt change, something I'm good at after a day or two of not having written - whatever spell was holding me in place is long since broken, and I can just move on, with a clear conscience. Back in my college days a dorm neighbor of mine who was a music major and an aspiring composer used to expend a lot of energy trying to get himself back into whatever mood he'd been in the last time he was composing. Even though I was smack in the middle of my writing drought back then and in no position to criticize another person's creative process, I remember thinking that what he was trying to do seemed somewhat silly. Inspiration comes and goes like waves on the ocean. Catch one breaking and you're in for a ride, but don't despair if you miss it. Though the next wave might not be identical as the last, it'll carry you in just the same.
