Another weekend, another 'copter down. It appears that although the Afghans decided not to make Afghanistan another Afghanistan (although in truth this remains to be seen, as the Taliban has regrouped, the local warlords are more powerful than ever, and even Kabul and Kandahar aren't safe anymore), the Iraqis have. However many Stinger missiles we sold to the mujahedeen back in the 80's, the Russians have sold just as many of their brand equivalent to Iraq in recent times, so if the resistance is now going after our close air support, they won't be running out of ammo anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Private Jessica Lynch has publicly excoriated the Pentagon for spinning the story of her capture and rescue into the stuff of propaganda. It seems that the barely-believable accounts of Pvt. Lynch fighting off the entire Republican Guard with three broken legs and fifty gunshot wounds while wielding only the spork from her M.R.E. as her only weapon that were circulated by a mendacious Central Command and a complicit right-wing media were barely believable for a reason. No wonder the Bush Administration didn't want her talking to anyone after her recovery...
