Paging Montgomery Burns,

it time for the 120th edition of "The Game", the legendary college football matchup between Harvard and Yale that dates all the way back to 1875 (Fun fact: the teams did not meet in 1877, 1885, 1888, 1895, 1896, 1917, 1918, 1943 or 1944; and although it was eventually played, in 1963 The Game was postponed due to the assassination of JFK), and whose stature in the pantheon of American sport has grown to the point that today's game will be broadcast live nationally, in high definition to boot! Despite my lack of affiliation to either school as a student, I still nevertheless have a roundabout emotional connection to The Game, as my original alma mater M.I.T. has over the course of the years made itself the unofficial third team by means of a number of clever pranks - we call them "hacks" - delivered at the expense of the boys in Crimson. The most memoriable Harvard-Yale hack was in 1982, when a black weather balloon with the letters "M.I.T." written on it that had been planted underground in advance rose up out of the field after a touchdown during the first quarter of the game:

To students of the 'Tute, "The Hack" has become just as an eagerly-awaited event as the game is to Harvard and Yale partisans. Will be any M.I.T. shenanigans today? How could a bunch of engineers resist the temptation of having their hack immortalized on high definition television! Kickoff is at 12:30 pm.

UPDATE: Harvard won, 37-19. No mention of any hacks, however, probably since the game was in New Haven. Darn!
