Pity

the poor 9th-century Byzantine grammarian Choeroboscus, who toiled for a lifetime only to have his labors described thus by Nigel Wilson:

"The general impression created by his work is one of tedious mediocrity."

Talk about your smackdown. Ouch. I hope I'm remembered a little more approvingly in twelve hundred years!
