My supervisor told me today that he's "almost 100% certain" that my job here at the Circ Desk will be renewed for the upcoming fiscal year, either as another one-year appointment or a permanent position! I'll find out for sure next week when the 2004/5 budget is finalized, but just the thought that my time here at Widener Library might not in fact be running out is a cheery one. If all goes well, I will start library school over the summer - assuming I am still here at Circulation, not only will I continue to garner some additional hands-on experience in a working library, but I will also have myriad Saturday and Sunday hours for keeping up with my coursework (which would be nothing short of a lifesaver, considering that Andriana will likely be walking by then and there won't be much time for anything at home that doesn't involve chasing her down and keeping her out of working her special brand of mischief in the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, the bedrooms, et cetera!). And best of all, I will keep my unfettered access to the Stacks, something I'm not quite sure that I could live without, now that I've enjoyed it for the past six months. Staying here is key from a scholarly perspective as well, what with the myriad projects going on at The Greek Institute, as well as my own budding research in Greek and the classical tradition.
Well, here's to hoping!
