In their own dojo!

Act Two of the 2004 Sox-Yankees season series opened last night with Boston's 11-2 thumping of New York - in the Bronx, no less! - giving the Red Sox a commanding 4-1 overall lead so far this year. I'm very pleased to see that Boston is still hitting as well as they were last season, when they sent one of the best offensive lineups to the plate that the sport of baseball has ever seen. Couple a battery of strong bats and a pitching rotation with multiple aces and we might just be on to something here, although it still remains to be seen how Pedro will hold up over the long run. And considering that our five-man "rotation" is a special kowtow to our Dominican hurler (who does better with the extra day), offering up every fifth game to the Gods of Cooperstown with a relative lightweight on the mound in order to rest Pedro may not be the best strategy if Pedro isn't delivering the customary goods. Fortunately after a couple of shaky starts he had a decent outing last week against the Toronto Blue Jays, pitching seven innings and striking out six on the way to a 4-2 win, so maybe the kid just needed to get his bearings this season. But it's the Red Sox Nation's lot to worry, and so I shall. Game Six of this season series starts at 1 p.m..

(And when the Hell is Nomar Garciaparra coming back, anyway?)
