School's out for the Summer.
I've gotten the nod from the assistant director not to teach over this upcoming Summer at The Greek Institute. Much as I'd like to offer a course in Intensive Ancient Greek, I fear that the intensity of my own library science classes would make for a nightmarish June and July, were I to attempt to teach and be a student at the same time during the compressed six-week Summer session at Simmons College. After that, I'm sure I'll be chomping at the bit to get back on the other side of the blackboard (I know the expression doesn't make any sense - it's as if I'm teaching behind a hidden mirror or something - but why does it feel right to say nonetheless?), as this will be my first extended leave of absence from teaching in four years. I guess I'm due for a sabbatical of sorts, but it still seems weird...
