I'm still severed from the Collective at the home office, and probably will be for the forseeable future unless I buy myself a WiFi card and start looking for public hotspots (I suspect we're not far from a number of them, being that we are within a stone's throw of not one but two - count 'em two - shopping malls and a supersized Barnes and Noble). It's not that we don't want to restore our digital cable and broadband service, but that taken together it represents another hundred-odd dollars we don't have at the end of the month; and considering that both my wife and I work where the internet flows fast and free, it seems silly to pay so much for a connection that sits idle for more than ninety-five percent of the day when we could do all the browsing we can shake a stick at during the day on our respective employers' tabs.
That and I seem to be much more productive in my use of the laptop when it's not hooked up to the Garden of Virtual Delights. Quelle surprise!
I've found a couple of free image hosting sites and therefore should be able to restore the banner pics for the blog, if nothing else. Too bad I forgot to bring them in on disk today! I did, however, remember to bring in my collected writing (a.k.a. my "hapanta", using the Greek term that means "every last thing"), which I periodically burn to CD-ROM lest the laptop crash or the Ipaq get lost or stolen. I was meaning to give "Keeper" the once-over before printing a final copy and mailing it out for rejection...
