"Fortune .500"

That's what pundits are calling the Boston Red Sox these days, who despite the second-highest payroll in all of Major League Baseball have only been playing .500 ball over the past three months (and after such a promising start, too!  But isn't it always that way?).  This weekend the Old Towne Team is duking it out with the New York Yankees at Fenway Park - an oddly appropriate matchup, considering the fact that the DNC is here for the week and the GOP convention will be held in the Big Apple.  So far the Yankees are up one game, having beaten the Sox last night 8-7 in a heated contest that showed just how hard Boston can play if they really put their hearts and minds into it.  Let's hope they put that same zeal on display this afternoon - the first pitch is at 3:15 - and that moreover they win the game as well.
