"Confessions" has hit the 75,000-word mark for the second time this morning. Although it's a little less of a milestone when you're just making up lost ground, I'm excited as all get-out anyhow, as in the process of re-writing the last chapter from scratch I've managed to transform it. What was turning into an unnecessary digression from the main plot is now a pivotal point in my protagonist's coming of age. And whereas before I couldn't quite see how I was going to get out of the chapter gracefully, this time through the ending is making itself more and more manifest as I write.
If nothing else, hitting 75k again has loosened the knot in my gut I've had since the Big Data Loss™. Here's to something like that never happening again!
