In case you've been living under a rock

Why does it take a tragedy like the tsunami which has devastated much of coastal South Asia to bring the world together? Well, everyone in the world except for the ever-charming Fred Phelps, who has deemed the killer wave God's righteous retribution against Swedish fornicators on holiday. I'm so glad I heckled that hatemonger's ass at the Democratic National Convention this summer; my only regret is that I neglected to bring some rotten eggs or spoiled fruit to toss at him and his Christofascist henchmen on the platform in the "Free Speech" cage.

Everyone seems to be a giving mood in light of this tragedy. We're giving money to Medicines San Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), in case you want to contribute and are mulling over which charitable organization will spend your donation best. MSF has decades of experience providing disaster relief and emergency medical care in the world's most God-forsaken places - they are also vigorous advocates for human rights around the globe. Consider giving to MSF's tsunami relief efforts, if you haven't already made a contribution.
