You got your T.V. show in my comic book!

Hot on the heels of Joss Whedon's 12-issue crossover into the mutant adventures of the Astonishing X-Men, Marvel Comics has also released a new title - Young Avengers - sporting the writing talent of Allan Heinberg, whose credits include Sex and the City and The O.C.

The weird thing about Heinberg's gig is that there is a running subplot in the latter show involving one of the two lead characters (Seth Cohen, played by Adam Brody) and his attempts to create a comic book based on his life and that of his friends. So much meta it hurts! But you have to love that one of the most-watched shows on Thursday nights embraces its inner geek with arms wide open - what's more, it gives some of the best fanboy lines not to the guys but the girls, proving that comic culture has gone equal opportunity once and for all.
