On the way into work this morning the faint rattling that our new Kia Sportage had been making since we picked it up a week and a half ago suddenly became a loud banging and grinding. A call to the service center suggested that something might be loose (no, really?) and so I made an appointment to bring the vehicle in just shortly after the crack of dawn on Monday. So just a little over a thousand miles into our new car adventure we run into our first problem -- on the one hand I'm happy that we don't have to worry about paying for any potential repairs and strangely satisfied that the rattle was in fact not a normal sound for a brand new car to be making and simply something I was going to have to live with. But at the same time it's just disappointing for something we're paying so much for to have mechanical problems right out of the gate. I'm hoping that it's something easily fixed that stays fixed, but if all else fails I could always start a "Kia Sucks" thread, a la Jeff Jarvis.
(Oops, looks like someone beat me to the punch.)
