Weight loss

Paper weight, that is -- today I brought over thirty books back to the library after they'd occupied half a bookshelf of space at the Exile homestead for God knows how long. Some of them I'd checked out in the course of writing papers of teaching Greek, others I'd discovered just by chance and checked out on a lark, but the common denominator for this lot was that I hadn't touched any of them in months. So I filled up a laundry basket and returned them this morning. Of course this still leaves me with seventy -- yes, *70* -- books still checked out that I couldn't find it in my heart to part with right about now. I've heard that this is not an uncommon phenomenon among us librarian-types, although that does little to mollify the missus, who would much rather have her aesthetically pleasing poetry and art books occupying our valuable shelf space than so many beat-up permabound tomes...
