Been thinking that maybe I should get with the times and try going on the Atkins Diet. Although I'd had some success with using Weight Watchers' "points" system, I managed to regain all the weight I'd lost in the space of a winter, and am now hovering invariably around a weight that may in truth be about twenty pounds less than my all-time high but nevertheless still about fifty more than I'd like to be lugging around on my frame. Especially at 31.
The only problem of course is that the high-protein, low carb diet that Atkins recommends is the absolute antithesis of what my daughter will have to eat in order to manage her PKU. She needs to minimize her consumption of protein, whereas I'd be maximizing it! I can't help but think that this might confuse her as time goes on. Maybe I should start reading her "Jack Sprat" at bedtime as preparation...
