How cold is it?

Earth (Harvard Square): -14 degrees C

Mars (Gusev Crater, where the Spirit landed on Saturday): Low -45 degrees C, Hi -5 degrees C

In other words, it's entirely possible that right now it's colder in Harvard Yard than it is on the surface of Mars, which is 75 million miles more distant from the Sun than the Earth!

(On the other hand, Venus, which is 40 million miles closer to the Sun, is currently a toasty 477 degrees Centigrade - hot enough to melt lead! So I guess we should just bundle up and count our blessings...)
