Woo-hoo -

yesterday I received my formal acceptance letter to the dual degree program in Library Science and History from Simmons College! I start classes at the end of June. Even beginning with just two courses, it's going to be a doozy of a summer schedule, but I'm excited as all get-out nonetheless. I figure that if I can somehow pull off (academically as well as financially) taking three classes in the Fall and Spring and two each Summer, I'll be able to finish everything by the end of 2005 save for my thesis, which I can then complete in the following Spring while I look for a new and improved job, as once I've completed the course requirements for the Master of Library Science I'm free to call myself a librarian. The History portion of the dual degree slows things down somewhat, but the prospect of getting two Masters for the price of one and a half is just too juicy to pass up, especially considering that both degrees are things that I would like to have anyway.

So I'm officially a librarian-in-training now. A scary thought, but a cool one as well. Wish me luck!
