I went to Bob Slate on my lunch break to purchase a couple hundred sheets of bond paper, as at long last it's time for me to start submitting short stories to publishers. Granted, I probably should have done so ages ago, but now that I've been writing for a full year, I feel prepared to take a little bit of rejection. The first three - "First", "Bambino", and "Amber" - are heading out to three separate magazines (selected by genre). I don't think I've ever gotten a case of nerves from printing something out before, but this afternoon I've been a wreck! I'll be glad to send these puppies on their way. It usually takes six to eight weeks to hear back from story editors, so I have plenty of time to find a place in the old home office to collect all of those "Thank you for your short story submission; unfortunately..." form letters.
* Actually my birthday is tomorrow. I'm not quite sure what that has to do with this post, anway!
