Random celebrity sighting: Denis Leary and his friend local comedian Lenny Clarke sitting in front of the Au Bon Pain in Harvard Square. As I passed them by it was the latter I noticed, although I couldn't figure out at first why he looked so familiar to me. Then I heard Leary's voice and put two and two together.
How weird - they were just hanging out and nobody was bothering them for autographs or pictures or anything like that. You gotta love Harvard folk for their general unflappability...
If you missed it on Comedy Central, Red Sox Connection has an online copy of the MasterCard parody ad in which the credit card company comes to Red Sox Nation in order to collect on all of the tongue-in-cheek offers fans made to see their team make it to the World Series and win it all in the real advertisement which aired last season. After a montage of creditors walking away with cars, houses, and first-born children, the parody ends with the following exchange between Denis Leary and a couple of MasterCard suits:
Denis Leary: I don't think I said that.
MasterCard Rep: Yes you did Mr. Leary.
Denis Leary: No.
MasterCard Rep: Yes.
Denis Leary: No.
MasterCard Rep: Yes. You said, and I quote: 'I'd give my left nut to have the Sox win the Series.'
Denis Leary: Yeah, that does kind of sound like me. Ah sh**.
Good stuff.
