Vision quest

It's hard to work in a library when you can't see. I neglected to mention that amid all of the convention hooplah in San Antonio I managed to lose my only pair of glasses, an unfortunate turn of events which has left me squinting through life over the past week as I await a new pair from the optometrist. Granted, I can read (albeit with some difficulty) if I crowd the monitor or jam a book right in front of my eyes, but I still feel like that lone bibliophile in the classic Twilight Zone episode who survives the end of the world only to break his spectacles in what was surely the Most Ironic Ending of All Time. Ugh.
