Oh come let us freeze him in carbonite

Our Nativity set didn't come with the Three Wise Men, so we figured a trio of bounty hunters from The Empire Strikes Back would fill in perfectly.

HA!

I looked at that pic and thought "geeze, why didn't they just get another nativity set?"

and then I thought..."genius..but blasphemous."

I still laughed :-)

Hi Tish!

I get to be the blasphemer of the family, as my wife is still nominally the good Greek Orthodox Christian and I'm reportedly a descendant of the late great Giordano Bruno (burned at the stake in 1600 by the Holy Inquisition for heresy). We figure our daughter will get the best of both worlds that way...

That being said, I was reminded of how seriously people take their Nativity sets when we were visiting my brother and his fiancee over the holidays. The in-laws-to-be were there as well for dinner, and when my little girl and one of the nieces started playing with the Nativity figurines you could see my brother's future father-in-law almost have a heart attack!

Wisely, I chose not to share my penchant for including Boba Fett in the display (much to the chagrin of my wife), but then again I was the only person at the table who could even name the three wise men -- Caspar, Balthasar, and Melchior, thankyouverymuch -- so on occasion heretics like me are good for something.

:)

Happy holidays!

ah, it's always the blasphemers and the athiests who know more about the Bible than the Catholics or the Fundies ;-)

have a very Merry New Year to you and the fam :-)
