For those of you who weren't in on the joke, June 13th was Blog Like It's The End of the World, where a bunch of us with overactive imaginations and too much time on our hands decided we'd blog about the zombie apocalypse for twenty-four hours as though it was actually happening in real time. As far I know the dead aren't really walking the earth, although to be perfectly honest I haven't checked any of the news feeds this morning so anything's possible.
I only wish I had been able to add more links to fellow zombie bloggers as I wrote, aside from those pointing to my friend and fellow library assistant/writer Jason Clarke, who first alerted me to BLITEOTW in the first place. But it was all good fun nonetheless, and the person behind this year's event (Steve Wilson of My Elves Are Different) promises that we'll all do something similar next year, even if it isn't a Night of the Living Dead Remake.
Holy dog crap! I just rounded up all of my posts in a Word document and did a word count: 5660 in just a little under a day. I was wondering why I was feeling so energized this morning - that's more than I've written for this entire year! It didn't occur to me that BLITEOTW would turn out to be such a creative writing sprint for me as it did, but I'm really glad I decided to participate. Now I can't wait for next year's global catastrophe...
