I know it was only on Christmas Eve that I was telling you all that I had everything I could possibly want, blah blah blah, I love my life, and so and so forth, but it turns out that I was wrong, Gentle Readers - dead wrong. You see, I need an Xbox. Not might like to have, not want, but need, preferably tonight, so I could play through dawn and sleep in 'til noon on my last Sunday off until Spring Break. Whence did this mania come, you ask? Well I'll tell you - the seed was planted over the Thanksgiving holiday in Jersey, when my brother went and got himself an Xbox. Unfortunately for me (but unfortunately for him) he made his purchase the day before we returned to Boston, so I didn't get much of a chance to bond with the infernal machine; but then I get back to work and learn that one of my fellow library assistants got an Xbox over the holidays and is happier than the proverbial clam about it. And so the seed sprouts.
I've held the line with my videogame obsession for quite some time now, my ongoing Civilization addiction and a lost fortnight playing Max Payne last year notwithstanding, but I fear that repeated tales of my coworker's Xbox exploits are going to push me over the edge and straight to the Best Buy. Come to think of it, I need to go there anyway to drop off my ailing laptop... could it be Fate trying to tell me something?
