A cure for ennui
It's called rendang, the Southeast Asian answer to chili, and local Malaysian eatery Penang (located in Harvard Square as well as the Theater District) serves up a plate of the stuff that would satisfy even a purist devotee of Texas Red. Chunks of beef are simmered in a coconut curry sauce until the meat is tender and literally falls apart in your mouth, and served with rice and a salad of jicama, cucumbers, and ripe mango. Add a cup of hot and sour lemongrass soup and you've got yourself the mother of all pick-me-up lunches.
